A Memorable Family Day at Vizag Beach: A Perfect Escape to the Coast
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting one of the most stunning coastal cities in India, Visakhapatnam (or Vizag, as it’s affectionately known). A perfect blend of natural beauty, rich culture, and a laid-back vibe, Vizag’s beaches offered the ideal setting for a memorable family day trip. From the golden sands to the blue waters, everything about the experience was simply unforgettable.
Our Journey to Vizag Beach
The excitement was palpable as we set out early in the morning. The drive was scenic, with the coastline slowly coming into view as we neared our destination. There’s something special about the way the sea greets you when you visit Vizag – the horizon stretching endlessly, and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore offering a sense of peace and serenity.
Arriving at the Beach
The moment we arrived, the vibrant atmosphere of the beach hit us. The sun was bright, the air crisp, and the sight of families and tourists enjoying the day added to the lively vibe. Vizag boasts several beautiful beaches, but for our family day out, we chose Ramakrishna Beach. The wide stretch of sand was perfect for a relaxing walk, building sandcastles, and soaking up the sun.

As soon as we reached the beach, the kids couldn’t wait to dip their toes in the water. The waves were gentle, making it safe and enjoyable for them to splash around. They had a blast jumping into the surf, their laughter echoing across the shore. The beach also had several water sports activities, but we chose to keep it simple. Taking a leisurely boat ride along the coastline with the family was a highlight of the day. The gentle rocking of the boat, combined with the spectacular views of the city from the water, was a peaceful experience.

After soaking in the sun and enjoying the water, we took a stroll along the Beach Road, which is lined with cafes and eateries. There was no better way to fuel up than to try some local snacks like Mirchi Bajji and Boiled Corn, which were perfect for munching on while enjoying the sea breeze.
We also visited the Kailasagiri Hill Park, just a short drive from the beach, where the views of the sea and the city were breathtaking. The park is well-maintained, with plenty of green spaces to relax. The kids loved riding the cable car, which took us on a scenic tour of the hilltop.
Sunset at the Beach
No visit to a beach is complete without watching the sunset, and Vizag offered one of the most mesmerizing sunsets I’ve ever seen. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, the sky painted itself in shades of orange and pink. We gathered on the beach, sitting on the soft sand, and enjoyed the serene view. It was a moment of pure peace — the perfect way to end our day at the beach.

Visiting Vizag Beach was an incredible family experience, one that brought us closer together as we enjoyed the natural beauty and activities that the city has to offer. Whether it was splashing in the waves, relaxing on the shore, or savoring local snacks, every moment was filled with joy.
